I'm back! Sort of. Real life still needs my attention from time to time. I know right? SO annoying. Anyway, to celebrate the end to my movie reviewing celibacy, here are some of the latest movie trailers about the latest movies.
Salt At first I thought this was a Jolie film similar to the Changeling, lady gets stupendously wronged by the government, heartbreakingly tortuous, lots of crying, etc. However, it’s so obviously not. It’s actually more like Wanted, only better cause it doesn’t blatantly spit on the face of the laws of physics. Or at least not too much, seriously, who can leap from that high and not fracture every major bone in their extremities? Prince of Persia: Sands of Time When I heard Jake Gyllenhaal was going to play the beloved Prince of Persia, I was very, very doubtful. But after seeing this trailer, well…he can carry the accent, and he still looks pretty with long hair, so not all is lost. After all, the hair is important. I loved the game, and I loved the story, fortunately it’s not a severely complicated story, so they can’t butcher this like most game-to-movie franchises. Right? I've got fewer movie trailers for you guys than usual, but that's okay, because they're all unique and interesting. A different flavor of popcorn fodder. A little hint of their theme though, it's called girl power.
Whip It! Directed by Drew Barrymore. That phrase alone is enough to capture my interest, but when you add roller derby to the mix, I just can't stay away. We don't even have to mention the awesome female cast of Ellen Page, Kristen Wiig, Juliette Lewis, Marcia Gay Harden, and Eve, but we will because it's too mind freakishly awesome not to mention. Jennifer's Body I never really liked Megan Fox before, but after seeing some of her interviews, I think I'm beginning to get her sarcastic and inappropriate humor. Of course, I can't say that it's a good thing for my well being, but at least I can watch her now without any violent reactions. And this movie just makes me tolerate her more. I mean you've gotta give Megan Fox a little props for being in a quirky, disturbingly witty, horror film written by Diablo Cody. Release: September 18, 2009

Whiteout Reminds me of 30 Days of Night, but even with Underworld's Kate Beckinsale, I don't think this film has any well-dressed vampires. I'm pretty fond of mystery thrillers, adding the ice cold spice to the mix makes it even more interesting. Release: Sept. 11, 2009

Inglorious Bastards I'm kind of surprised that the title wasn't censored in any way, I mean, they made a whole lot of hullabaloo over the title Zack and Miri Make A Porno. Maybe it's because Brad Pitt is in it? Anyway, Brad's character in this reminds of his Tyler Durden in Fight Club. And trust me, that's a good thing.

Public Enemies Suffocatingly prestigious epics like these are always a win. Even if you somehow come to abhor the ambitious stories, watching the fascinating era it throws you in is worth every cent anyway. And with Christian Bale, Johnny Depp, and Marion Cotillard in it, you automatically get grade A acting. Release: July 1, 2009
Moon Kind of like Sunshine, except that the only thing broken is the protagonist himself. I'm intrigued by Sam Rockwell's performance. Release: June 12, 2009

New movie trailers! Mostly big blockbuster effects type films that cater more to thrill impact rather than substance, but we the audience love them anyway.
Franklyn I have no idea what this is about. But it reminds me V for Vendetta, albeit an extra prettier version. Btw, I love V for Vendetta. Release: February 20, 2009
Terminator Salvation In this film we finally get a glimpse of the oh-so infamous after effects of judgment day. Plus, we'll all see the rebel leader fighting(/training?) the rookie who will be his future father in past who died while saving his mother after he knocked her up with him. Dollhouse And for a different kind of treat, we have a tv promo! There has been a huge hype about this upcoming tv show, Dollhouse, and I have to say that I'm quite excited myself. It premieres this February 13, 2009 on the US television network, FOX. I just hope FOX won't cancel this like they did Joss Whedon's other awesome show, Firefly. The show stars Eliza Dushku, Olivia Williams, Tahmoh Penikett, Harry J. Lennix, Fran Kraz, Dichen Lachman, and Amy Acker.

A new year comes with a new batch of movie trailers. I really can't help but be optimistic with the turn out of films this year. Now, onto the trailers!
Push Seems like a Heroes rip-off, but it seems really interesting nonetheless. And, the pretty people are always a plus. I sat through Cellular for Chris Evans, and I sure as hell would sit through this action packed treat for him too. Opens February 6, 2009.
9 OMG! It's the Little Big Planet movie! It even has the same old British narrator! Okay, not really, but almost! Another masterpiece from Tim Burton. Opens September 9, 2009.
Monsters vs. Aliens Dreamworks Animations finally got tired of green ogres and is back to give us another hilarious and star-studded animated film. Opens March 27, 2009.
The Unborn Okay, if a creepy kid I'm babysitting broke a glass against my head and tried to blame it on the "unborn," I'd dunk his head in the toilet and tell his mom that her son has womb envy. Just sayin. Btw, this is one creepy trailer, and if the movie is even half as creepy as its trailer, then it has succeeded in being a good horror film. I can't even watch the trailer twice. Opens January 9, 2009.

Dragonball Evolution Here is another, slightly better, look at the live action Dragonball film. The trailer is admittedly better, but the film seems even more disappointing. Goku is not an emo kid who mutters a quiet "cool" when he sees a motorcycle pop out of nowhere. This Dragonball is definitely evolved, but is it for the better? Opens April 8, 2009
X-Men Origins: Wolverine Hugh Jackman is everywhere these days. He's even hosting the 81st Academy Awards! Opens May 1, 2009
Friday the 13th Another remake. Yay!...not. Will anyone be watching this obviously predictable horrific film? Yes, I will. Just to laugh at it. I'll buy the people watching with me a Krispy Kreme donut if it's in any way decent. Opens February 13, 2009
Sunshine Cleaning Think Little Miss Sunshine, except with a prettier cast, and a more intriguing story. I really like this film, Amy Adams and Emily Blunt are always a win. Opens March 13, 2009
Adventureland This seems so awesome. Who hasn't dreamed of working in a fair? Okay, I haven't, but still. Fans can also see a funnier side to Kristen Stewart, who mostly takes serious or teen angsty roles. Opens March 27, 2009

Star Trek Wasn't really a fan and didn't know much about it, and I won't deny that Chris Pine is currently the best incentive for watching this. But the trailer makes me want to watch it even more now. Opens May 8, 2009.
The Spirit Another film by Frank Miller (300, Sin City). Really, do I need to say more? Opens Christmas 2008.
2012 A disaster drama. Those are always fun. It stars John Cusack. He's...okay? Can't wait to see more of this. Opens July 10, 2009.
Race to Witch Mountain Apparently this is based on a series. It seems like a different kind of Disney Film, I'm kinda intrigued. Superpowers are always a win. Plus, it has The Rock! Opens March 13, 2009.
Dollhouse Okay, first of all, NOT a movie, but definitely one of the most watch worthy things coming out next year. This is a Joss Whedon creation my friends. And it also helps that the gorgeous Eliza Dushku and hunky Tahmoh Penikett is in it. Coming this January 2009

Angels and Demons A fresh teaser trailer. I hope they don't butcher the film with paranoid controversies, The Da Vinci Code film was so disappointing. At least Tom Hanks' hair looks better than that scary mullet he used to have. Opens May, 2009.
17 Again Kinda like 13 Going On 30. Except backwards. And it's a guy. I'm sure most will be watching it purely for Zac Efron. And who could blame them? Opens April 17, 2009.
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans A prequel to the first two Underworld movies. No Kate Beckinsale here, but there is Rhona Mitra. They look alike and are both British, so it's practically the same person! This Underworld prequel sounds kinda like a Romeo and Juliet-esque type of story, except with fangs and fur. Opens January 23, 2009.
The prequel will trace the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires known as Death Dealers and their onetime slaves, the Lycans. In the Dark Ages, a young Lycan named Lucian (Michael Sheen) emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Bill Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has enslaved them. Lucian is joined by his secret lover Sonja (Rhona Mitra) in his battle against the Death Dealer army and his struggle for Lycan freedom.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince The latest trailer for the sixth installment of Harry Potter. Watch worthy for Potter addicts. Opens July 17, 2009.
Dragonball Piccolo looks like a vampire. Other than that, all I can say is: Meh. Opens April, 2009.
I can't let my favorite month end without doing a trailers post. Most of the upcoming movies are coming out this October aka the month starting tomorrow.
Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist Aw. Love the trailer. Like Michael Cera. This seems to be a romantic indie film full of sarcasm, wit, self-deprecating humor, and awesome music. Can’t wait to see it. Will be released October 3.
City of Ember This sounds and looks like an interesting film, though it seems a little predictable. Still, who doesn’t like fantasy adventure films? And apparently, with the way the critics are acting these days, conspiracies are everywhere in children’s fantasy/adventure films. The ridiculous accusations of conservatives are almost as entertaining as the films they criticize. I say almost because sometimes it’s just pitiful. Will be released October 10.
The Punisher: War Zone Where is Thomas Jane? Don't know yet whether this is a direct sequel or a reboot film. The new actor seems to look more like the Punisher from the comics, but is he as good (or better) than Jane? Guess we'll find out. Will be released December 5. Warning: The trailer is full of gore and violence, and is not meant for kids.
The Changeling This film was released last year on a film festival. Now it’s getting a wider release because of its success. In the Changeling, we see Angelina Jolie holstering her guns for the moment, and playing a woman who is searching for her missing son. Will be released October 24.
Clint Eastwood directs Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich in a provocative thriller based on actual events: Changeling. In the film, Christine Collins' (Jolie) prayers are met when her kidnapped son is returned. But amidst the frenzy of the photo-op reunion, she realizes this child is not hers. Facing corrupt police and a skeptical public, she desperately hunts for answers, only to be confronted by a truth that will change her forever.
The Tale of Despereaux Looks like a mix of Ratatouille, Dumbo, and Stuart Little. Looks like fun. By the way, Emma Watson is debuting her voice acting in this animated film. Will be released December 19.
The Soloist Speechless. Wordless. Profound drama overload. Will be released November 21.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince It's the sixth installment in the Harry Potter series, and we get more wizardry goodness, and evilness of course.
Max Payne Max Payne is a film based on the popular video game. Some (actually, a lot) may argue that Mark Wahlberg doesn't look anything like Max Payne, and I kinda agree. But I will say though that this character suits Wahlberg way, way, waaay better than that whiney school teacher he played in The Happening.
The Day the Earth Stood Still This is a remake of the 1951 film. I'll probably post a little something about film remakes later, but for now, enjoy the pretty trailer with the pretty cast and the pretty graphics in a pretty frickin cool sci-fi movie.
The Quantum of Solace It's the sequel to Casino Royale, and James Bond is back for more suave action. I've been hearing complaints that the trailer doesn't really give any oomph factor, and that it isn't exciting enough. But if they give all the good parts away in the trailer, I bet people would be complaining that there aren't any surprises left, and that the trailer ruined the movie. I'm just happy that I get to take a peek at the new Bond film.
The Princess and the Frog How cute is this? How frickin cute is this? I'm so glad to see Disney go back to its roots and give us some classic 2D mush. And the best part? It's being directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, directors of Little Mermaid and Aladdin, my favorite Disney classics, and it has music from musical guru Randy Newman. I am so watching this.
The House Bunny I know, it's a cliched chick flick comedy, complete with geeky girls in fashion montages. But it's written by Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah Lutz, writers of Legally Blonde. It's produced by Happy Madison. And Anna Faris is one of the few actresses who can get me to really laugh. And yes, your eyes are not mistaken, American Idol season 5 runner up Katharine McPhee is in it. And Rumer Willis too (daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, for those of you who don't know). So yeah, I'm watching it.
Rachel Getting Married Seeing Anne Hathaway in this kind of role threw me for a loop. But I think it's pretty cool that she's stepping aside from the good girl routine.
Twilight A new trailer for those avid Twilight fans. And a second look for those who aren't.
